When did you start writing?
I have kept a journal since childhood but I began writing my first novel in 2015 when the character Vincent came to me, began sharing his story, and introduced me to the Moore family. Since creative thoughts about his character kept flowing through my mind, I began writing down my thoughts and many pages later, I realized I had the beginning of a novel.
Why did you choose romance as your favorite genre?
The Romance genre was perfect for me because every story has to have a happy ever after or happy for now ending and it suited my passion for writing about love in its many forms. I enjoy hearing the word love and the feeling it evokes. Love in its many forms, eros or romantic love, philia as in affectionate love, friendship or shared good will and agape as in selfless love is something that should be researched so that the power of it can be harnessed and used to help humanity.
What kind of research do you do?
I like researching the setting of the story, the character’s cultural background and the profession of the character. I also find it useful to know more about the current events that occurred at the time of the story.
Who is your favorite character?
Vincent is my favorite character because he was one of my first characters and Vincent is a very complex character.
Did your family support your decision to become a writer?
From the beginning, my husband has supported my passion by providing technical support and helping to set up spaces in our home where I could cocoon to write.
How long does it take to write a book?
It generally takes six months to a year depending on what’s happening in my life to complete a book.
What was your favorite book(s) as a child?
I enjoyed reading the Little House on the Prairie Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder and as a young adult, Maya Angelou’s, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
